Trim work

Base board trim, door trim, crown molding, chair rail and more!

Everyone has baseboard molding and door and window trim. Moldings basically band or rap different transition in your room like wall to window or wall to flooring. Your more common baseboard molding is a 3-5 inch tall molding, mainly because most middle class homes are 8 foot walls and also, its cheaper. It still hides that floor expansion gap at the wall as its intended to do but some people, including myself, like to add drama to the room so I like to get taller molding. Typically taller molding are for taller rooms because it wouldn't look right archectually having short molding in a taller space. Stepping into the 5-7 inch baseboard adds a modern, bold, and substantial look to the room even if you only have 8 foot wall.

Door and window trim do the same thing. If your really wonted too you could just install basic 1x3 square finished wood as your base, door, and window trim but then your taking out the nice carved look. The whole idea is to have the nice carving architectural design transitioning every wall and turn.
